BOV Premier Division Statistics 2022-23 – Match Day 8

1 – Santa Lucia obtained their first victory of the season, beating Pieta’ Hotspurs 2-1. Before last Saturday, the Lucians’ last win in the Premier Division dated back to 4 April this year, when they beat Balzan 3-0 on the opening match day of the Play-Out. Sirens now remain the only winless team in this season’s Premier Division.

65 – Luke Montebello’s penalty for Hamrun Spartans in their match against Mosta (2-1) last Saturday, was his 65^th goal in the Premier Division. He scored 36 goals for Birkirkara, 12 for Tarxien Rainbows, 11 for Valletta, 2 each for Balzan and Zebbug Rangers and one each for Pembroke Athleta and Hamrun Spartans.

100 – Hamrun’s opening goal against Mosta, scored by Luke Montebello from the penalty spot, was Hamrun’s 100^th goal against Mosta in history. The first time they met was in the 1948/49 FA Trophy, an 8-1 victory for Hamrun. Mosta’s goal last Saturday (2-1) was their 46^th against Hamrun in total. It was the third consecutive time Hamrun beat Mosta with the score 2-1 in the Premier Division.

100 – Llywelyn Cremona’s substitute appearance against Gzira United was the 100^th in the Premier Division for his hometown club Valletta. The midfielder re-joined the Lilywhites last month after a little more then four seasons with Gudja United. He made his debut for Valletta against Qormi on 10 September 2011 (3-1).

150 – The match against Gudja United was Dunstan Vella’s 150^th in the Premier Division, all in the colours of Hibernians. The Malta international midfielder made his debut in the Premiership on the very last match day of season 2013/14 against Sliema Wanderers (1-3), on 24^th April 2014 to be exact, three days before his 18^th birthday.

 

150 – Apart from Dunstan Vella, also Samir Arab made his 150^th Premier Division appearance. He reached this milestone in the goalless draw against Floriana last Sunday. The defender played most of these, 119, for his current club Balzan, but also 30 for Vittoriosa Stars during season 2013/14. He made his debut in the Premiership for Valletta on the 1^st December, aged 16, in a 2-0 win over Hamrun Spartans, his only Premier Division appearance for the Citizens.
