(HT 2-0)

1-0 Jonny 12, 2-0 Jonny 31, 3-0 Jonny 62, 4-0 Eder 90.

Jonny Robert do Nascimiento Torres notched a hat-trick as champions Hamrun Spartans bounced back from a heavy 0-3 defeat to Birkirkara last week, beating the IZIBET FA Trophy winners 4-0 to claim the BOV Super Cup at the National Stadium on Friday.

This was the sixth Super Cup for the Spartans after winning the competition five times in six years between 1987 and 1992.

Hamrun made their intentions clear right from the start and on the seventh minute, Uros Djuranovic served Jonny from the left and the latter hit just wide.

Five minutes later, the Spartans took the lead on the 12th minute. Ryan Camenzuli delivered a cross from the left and Jonny beat goalkeeper Marcel Zapytowski with a fine header.

Birkirkara replied with a header by Bravo following a corner from the right which was parried by goalkeeper Federico Marchetti on 19 minutes.

However, on the 31st minute, Hamrun doubled the score. Joseph Mbong provided an assist from the right and Jonny hit home from close range.

Three minutes from the end of the first half, Enrico Pepe delivered a cross from the right with Yannick Yankam heading the ball in the direction of Bravo who failed to control from close range with Marchetti getting hold of the ball. A minute later, Alexander Satariano had an angled shot from the left turned into a corner by the Hamrun custodian.

But the first half was not over yet as four minutes in added time, Luke Montebello rounded Jovan Pajovic inside the area and tested Zapytowksi with a powerful shot which was blocked by the Polish goalkeeper with Yankam heading the ball into a corner.

Seventeen minutes in the second half, Hamrun scored the third goal when Jonny concluded a brilliant run on the right flank with a diagonal shot which beat the Birkirkara goalkeeper.

The Spartans added another goal on the 90th minute when Roko Prsa released Eder on the left and the latter hit low past Zapytowski.

After the final whistle, Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo, accompanied by BOV Chief Operations Officer Ernest Agius, presented the BOV Super Cup to Hamrun Spartans captain Steve Borg.
